Sample of Workforce Projects:
- The Medical Device Education Industry Consortium is an industry-led partnership with two-year colleges in seven states. This initiative is developing standardized education and training programs for the medical device industry.
- The Community College/Vocational Industry Cluster HUBS Initiative is a collaborative project involving two-year colleges in four states that have developed entrepreneurship education and training programs for top managers in existing manufacturing firms.
- A Marketing Plan for the South Carolina Workforce Investment Act Program created a more effective working relationship between the state’s workforce programs and employers.
- The South Carolina Software Initiative was a collaborative effort involving an alliance of software-related businesses, public workforce organizations, and two-year colleges. The initiative was designed to develop industry-defined solutions that addressed critical workforce development challenges.
- The Economic Impact Study was an analysis of the childcare and transportation needs of Savannah workers in relation to increasing development along I-95 funded by the Coastal Georgia Regional Development Center.
- The Environmental Technician Job Training Program was a series of job training programs to prepare workers from disadvantaged communities in Charleston, SC, Greenville, SC, and Pembroke, NC, for environmental occupations.
- The Faith-based and Community Initiative was a capacity building project for grassroots nonprofit organizations operating job training and placement services along coastal South Carolina and Georgia.
In addition, PBC partners with other not-for-profit organizations, colleges, industry, and federal/state agencies on
collaborative e-learning programs. This has included partnerships with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard,
and the Centers for Disease Control.
